I'm always on the hunt for new cheaper make up dupes than can provide the same or if not better alternative to high end counter brands. I'm a massive lover of high end products but it's safe to say my bank account doesn't always agree!
Primark have been killing the fashion and the homeware game for that matter so I thought lets try out their beauty range.
The range has got much bigger over the past year or so. It's gone from a tiny section to a quarter of the floor in my local Primark!
I picked up four of their palettes. The Cheeky Peach blush and highlight, the Just Peachy eyeshadow palette, the Eye Candy eyeshadow palette and the Lunar Glow highlighter palette.
The palettes look gorgeous! So well made and beautifully finished.
Both the peach palettes have a faint peach scent to them which reminds me of the too faced palettes. The eyeshadow palettes both have 9 different shades in them. They are easy to blend but I wouldn't say they are the most pigmented but ideal for everyday wear. They last all day so for the price you can't really complain. The blush palette however is very pigmented so a little goes a long way. The highlighters are a little chalky and hard to blend. They look very similar to the ABH palettes and would be better suited to those of a paler skin tone just as they are quite cool shades. I think a powder is very hard to perfect and I can't say I'm that impressed with their powder products so far. The eyeshadows are okay but I wouldn't reach for them out of my other palettes.
I also picked up their priming water and I've got to admit I'm in love! I was so bad for remembering to actually put primer on so using a priming water is so much easier to just spritz all over the face and definitely helps to keep my skin looking dewy and fresh. It has helped keep my make up on all day (and even all night!) so I can't recommend this enough - I'll definitely be repurchasing this one.
The foundations - the game changers! Now this is where I've always been a bit of a brand snob. I've always said without a good base is there much point with the rest of your face? I've always had a bit of a battle with wanting the dewy glowy look but also needing full coverage and then thinking full courage doesn't help with my terrible skin (honestly it's the worst battle!) I picked up two of their foundations one for every day and one for evenings but I've found mixing them both has left me with the PERFECT base - bold statement I know! I go in with the My Perfect Colour longwear matte foundation, it's quite thick and reminds me of Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation both from the glass bottle to the thick formula. This is definitely a thick matte full coverage foundation but I then like to mix it with the Perfect Finish medium coverage foundation as this is a little more dewy so doesn't offer the full coverage but helps to warm up the colour (this one is slightly warmer tone even in the shade so be careful when picking shades) It helps to add that shine back into the skin.
I've always been a fan of their eyelashes and always keep a massive stash of them in my beauty drawers just in case! I love them for every day wear as they are so light you don't know you're wearing them. They are quite long in the lash band so I do always have to cut them down to size and the glue definitely isn't much to rave about so be sure to pick up another brand of eyelash glue BUT the lashes themselves are amazing quality for the price and if looked after and cared for do last a very long time!
Overall I was very impressed with their beauty range and will be trialling out some more items for the blog so if you have any of their range you'd like me to try out and review let me know.
I absolutely love your photography skills and I enjoyed reading this blogpost! Keep up the good work xx
