Beauty | Birchbox | August

As well as signing up to Glossybox I also thought I'd give Birchbox a go so I could do a bit of a comparison to see which is the best beauty box on the market.

I picked the same subscription which is a rolling contract so again you can cancel at any time which is £10 a month plus £2.95 P+P.

The boxes are much smaller which means they fit through most letterboxes meaning no annoying trips to the post office to collect the parcel like I have to do with the Glossybox ones! The boxes are also stunning. The August box is a mermaid theme like I'm sorry that's it hands down it's my favourite beauty box I've ever received.

Inside is 5 beauty products so this month I received:

Palmers coconut oil body lotion. I've always been a fan of palmers products as they do what they say on the tin. They're natural and s good for the skin. This oil lotion smells exactly like coconut oil - which slightly reminds me of cooking as that's all I cook with but I can work with that. It's so smooth and is easily absorbed by the skins and hey we all know how good coconut oil is for us anyway don't we? It left my skin hydrated and smooth all day and I'll definitely be re-purchasing this one! RRP £4.19 (for full size)

Next up is Oribe beach wave and shine spray which I've actually tried before in a previous beauty box. It's a gorgeous spray which I use when I've got curly hair to scrunch in to add extra texture and shine back into the hair. I absolutely the smell of this and is great for creating that beach look without the need for salt water! RRP £20 (for full size)

Next up is a full size product from LOC which is their one and done shadow stick. This is a cream pencil eyeshadow that is waterproof and stays put without the need for a primer. Perfect for holidays right? I got the shade out of your shell which is a creamy colour which is great for the lighter shade to be able to build up with a smokey eye. For me would I say it stays all day? Well it says to blend with your finger tips but I did that and it disappeared so not my favourite product in the box. RRP £8

Next up I was a little confused as to why a beauty box would send a hand sanitiser as a product but in all fairness I never go anywhere without one. Working on computers in an office environment it's kind of a bit of a staple! This is full size but it's definitely small enough to carry in every handbag. I got the scent Hello sunshine which smells very fruity. RRP £2.90

I've definitely saved the best until last. In my opinion the whole box was worth the £10 just for this one. It's a full sizes Spectrum collections A05 brush and I'm in love. They're my favourite brushes as they are just so pretty. The A05 brush is a contour or powder brush. The slanted bristles make it easier to get into the hollows of your cheeks or under the eyes to set your powder. Mine came in the most perfect mermaid shade and I couldn't be happier to add it to my brush collection. RRP £59.99 for the set.
