Lifestyle Turning 25

I've decided it was about time I wrote a much more personal post as these are sometimes some of the posts I actually enjoy reading. I feel you get a much better insight into the blogger and hey we all love to be nosy don't we?

This year I'm turning 25. I'd always been a little worried turning 25 as I always thought I'd have my whole life planned by the time I reached 25 but as life happens nothing happens how you planned it.2015 was a very difficult year for me and so I decided I was going to make 2016 my year and make some changes I had needed to do for a while. I set goals, pushed my limits and so far I'm achieving way more than I set out to do!

My first goal was to be happy. This may seem like such a trivial thing but often the thing we all crave is genuine happiness. I wanted to surround myself with all of the people that genuinely made me smile on a regular basis. I cut myself away from people who craved drama and gave off negative energy. Once I had started to make changes like this I did start to feel how much positive energy from positive people can impact your life on such a big scale. I now wake up and smile to realise how lucky I am to have such amazing people around me. I wanted to be confident and to not care what anyone else thought and so this blog was born. I'd always wanted to launch one since studying a Fashion Retail Course in 2011, yes it's taken me this long but one day I woke up and said you know what I'm going to do it and here I am!

I also wanted to get fit. I joined the gym and never looked back. Now I'm definitely not an expert but I do try and do at least an hour of exercise a day (it's very difficult running a house and having two jobs as well as a blog to find any more time so small steps!) In this hour I put my headphones in and completely zone out. I mix cardio with kettle bell workouts as well as some light weight training. I find this also helps to keep my mood lifted. I do this as soon as I wake up so I'm filled with all the endorphins to keep me positive for the rest of the day.

I also wanted to look after myself more. I've always been such a giving person but I wanted to focus a lot more on myself for a while. I decided this year I wanted a complete overhaul. I started with my wardrobe. I got rid of everything that didn't fit or just didn't make me feel fabulous anymore. I'm a big believer in the clothes that you wear can empower or can diminish your mood within one minute. I'm slowly each month buying new bits that I can use as capsule pieces to enhance my style into a much more sophisticated look which I feel comfortable in. I also wanted to look after my skin as not many of you know but I've always suffered with quite bad akin. This has always been one of the parts of me which has impacted my life dramatically, from job interviews to meeting friends or dating. Breakouts can take over your life and I decided it was time to make a change to factors which I believe caused a lot of my breakouts. I decided to stop with the sugary drinks and drink a LOT more water. This instantly made such a difference my skin was dewy, plump and the breakouts were a lot better. I then started to take Boots Acne relief tablets. You take 2, 3 times a day which does sound a lot but again I was finding the results to be amazing. I was no longer getting breakouts which were cracking and bleeding and become sore they were just like every other pimple we all suffer from.

I changed my diet as I was fed up with feeling sluggish and not like myself. I decided it was time to take control and got rid of all of the processed foods (it felt good having such a big clear out) and bought lots of healthy new fresh and whole foods. I've never had so much motivation and so much energy and I definitely believe that it's because I'm now eating food that my body needs.

Turning 25 also meant I needed to up my skin care routine. I was still very much in the lazy teenage stage of using a make up wipe. Possibly the worst thing you can use on your skin! I started to use Garnier Micellar water and making sure I used a scrub at least 3 times a week. This also made my skin feel amazing I actually realised how clean my skin was feeling after taking my make up properly. I also didn't realise how dry my skin was for some reason I was always under the impression if you had breakout it's was because your skin was oily. So I've also started to use a lot more moisturisers which have helped to make my skin feel amazing. I've been loving the Nivea light day moisturiser recently it just melts into the skin leaving the skin feeling light and not clogged down with product. I've also been loving the Loreal Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil. Now I've never in my life used any oils on my skin (I know where have I been hiding all these years) and I can honestly say I love it. I use it every morning before my moisturiser and then again at night when my face is clear. I can't believe how plumped and hydrated my face feels after using it.

Turning 25 definitely isn't as scary as I thought. I've never felt more confident and more happy with who I am and who I am becoming. Sometimes a little selfishness can do us good!
