I am a self confessed beauty junkie. I tend to buy beauty products at least twice a week which is definitely an expensive habit to have, especially if like me you love designer beauty.
This week though I decided I would do a whole make up haul just using drugstore products and wanted to see if I could get my core products all in one place. The end result? I was majorly impressed!
The great thing with boots (or you could say one of the major downfalls which ever way you look at it) is their offers. All of the products I bought were on 3 for 2 which did encourage me to pick up the extra lipstick, which I didn't really need but the price points they sell their make up is unbeatable so I couldn't resist.
So here is what I purchased and my thoughts on each product.
To start with I wanted a new primer as I found my last one was too sticky and so caused my foundation to flake whenever I used it. I picked up two. The collection primed & ready which is powered by Witch and is designed to mattify and minimise pores. The main reason I picked this one up was the fact it's powered by Witch. I do suffer from breakouts and thought this would be the perfect base to put on my skin during those breakouts. It's a clear gel like texture which is immediately absorbed into the skin and makes your skin feel very smooth and velvety. The second primer I picked up was the studio secrets resurfacing primer by L'Oreal. This is a whipped mousse texture and is very bouncy and much thicker than the collection primer. I must say I went on a night out after using this primer and my make up didn't budge one bit. My face didn't go shiny and had no make up sliding off (we all know this is a girl's worst nightmare on a night out!).
I then moved onto a new foundation I've currently been loving Stila's illuminating liquid foundation. This offers exactly what it says on the pot it's very illuminating and leaves my face so bright and healthy. The only draw back it is quite a thin coverage so I was looking for something a little thicker with a heavier coverage. So after trying a few out I decided L'Oreal's true match foundation would be my choice. This foundation glides onto the skin and blends out to match your skin tone making picking a shade much easier. I love the texture and the staying power of this foundation it lasted all night with no need to touch up.
I then picked up Maybelline's Fit Me concealer after watching so many YouTubers and bloggers raving about this concealer and I can see why. This concealer is great for highlighter under your eyes and provides a great level of coverage too.
I then decided to finish it off I'd pick up a new powder and then seen Seventeen Miracle Matte pressed powder which promises up to 16 hours shine control. The powder does offer a matte finish and does control all your shine which is great especially for nights or events when you're more for the shine to appear!
I then wanted to purchase some more nude and neutral lipsticks as I've recently been loving a nude lip. I think it's so sophisticated and classy to have a nude lip so I decided (after swatching what felt like a million lipsticks) on Maybelline Coloursensational in shades 240, 630 and 842. These are so hydrating on the lips and glide over your lips. They feel so moisturising and not drying at all which I think is the most important element of a lipstick.
To finish it all off I decided a needed a setting spray. I've never used one before but thought if I wanted to get the most out of my make up I needed something to hold it in place. I then spotted the L'Oreal Infallible fixing mist. Now my first tip for this is to shake the bottle (quite a lot) to mix the mist up as when I first sprayed this I ended up with little white dots all over my face. After I mixed it all up I must admit I was pleasantly surprised it melted into my skin and didn't leave any wet patches or stickiness (we all know that feeling when you spray your face with hairspray!)
I was overall very impressed with my purchases and can't wait until my next visit to see what goodies I can stumble across. If you have any products you recommend leave them in the comments and I'll definitely add them to my basket next time I'm out shopping!
